DCPA is proud to offer individuals who participate in the AFA Partners in Care training program the opportunity to pursue distinction as an AFA Certified Dementia Care Partner. After viewing the training program, each trainee has the option to complete the AFA Partners in Care examination, accessible through the DCPA website. Individuals who receive at least an 80% on the examination will achieve distinction as an AFA Certified Dementia Care Partner and receive a letter of acknowledgement and certificate. The certification program recognizes proficiency in high-quality dementia care practices
AFA Certified Dementia Care Partners must renew their credential annually.
ATTENTION AFA QUALIFIED DEMENTIA CARE PROVIDERS AND SPECIALISTS:
Beginning September 1, 2015, AFA will be phasing out its Qualified Dementia Care Provider (QDCP) and Qualified Dementia Care Specialist (QDCS) credentials, as we are no longer offering the corresponding training programs. All individuals who previously received these distinctions and wish to maintain credentialed through AFA will be required to participate in AFA’s new AFA Partners in Care training program (currently available through DVD) and complete the AFA Partners in Care certification exam. Those who successfully complete this program will achieve distinction as an AFA Certified Dementia Care Partner, and any previously received QDCP or QDCS qualification will become null. Unlike the QDCP and QDCS programs, the AFA Dementia Care Partner certification is renewable annually.
